Agung Kurniawan is also featured in Indonesian Art Today. Both an artist and activist, Kurniawan believes in not only creating art but being responsible for the social messages it sends. In a recent interview, he stated "My main theme is violence. I want to point out how society can live in the center of violence and repression that is so suppressive they are not even aware of it." ▫️ AGUNG KURNIAWAN POPE & MEHMET, 2011 ▫️ Welded steel & paint. Considered one of Indonesia's top contemporary artists, Ugo Untoro has exhibited across Indonesia as well as Malaysia, China, Singapore and France. Hailing from a street background and graffiti art, his signature style is more raw and spontaneous rather than pleasant. Considered unpolished, the unpolished nature of his work connects to everyday issues experienced by the margins of society. ▫️ UGO UNTORO UNTITLED, 2007 ▫️ Mixed media on paper. 33 x 41 cm. Mouhammad Mouselli's works are strange but familiar. Are these shapes or creatures you recognize? Are they abstract, landscape, drawings or paintings? These categories, questions are at the heart of his practice. Not to answer them, but to destroy them. As the artist says of his own practice: "I’m trying to think about nothing. You destroy time … you don’t know why, you’re just trying to compose, figure out, catch something, trying to let it go. It’s life, it’s living." ▫️ MOUHAMMAD MOUSELLI UNTITLED, 2016 ▫️ Mixed media on paper. 42 x 59.5 cm. Signed on the recto. $230

In his solo exhibition, Mouhammad Mouselli seeks to let time drift away. Originally from Damascus, Syria, Mouselli fled Syria in 2014, currently living and creating art in Berlin. With his mixed media works on paper, Mouselli uses his practice as a means to detach from time and it’s linear path. Curator Louisa Elderton states that "as the eye darts over each shape and colour, again and again, we see the forms anew – this time a green circle, next time a watery puddle, and then a cog in a complex, interconnected machine." ▫️ MOUHAMMAD MOUSELLI UNTITLED, 2016 ▫️ Mixed media on paper. 42 x 59.5 cm. Will Thomson on deconstructing photographic concepts: "I thought it would be interesting to experiment with aspects of photography as a concept, and try to transfer them to painting. For example, I like the immediacy of a photograph, both freezing a moment in time, and the experience of a photograph developing within a matter of seconds, in fluid. Also how photography trains you to use your eyes and see things in a more thoughtful way." ▫️ WILL THOMSON UNTITLED, FROM THE SERIES "THE BIG REVEAL", 2014 ▫️ Ink on paper. 76 x 57 cm. Signed on the verso. $1,500

Alexandra Lethbridge on her first contact with the photography: "I first came to photography when I was given a box of old cameras from my Grandfather when he passed away. This was the first time I remember being intrigued by a camera. They were old film cameras and they seemed really alien to me at the time. Even to this day, I still have an affinity with the object of a camera. After this, I didn’t pick up my interest seriously again until I was in college. I had a lecturer who really understood and shared my particular interest in photography. He helped introduce me to the idea of being a photographer myself and I’ve been working towards that aim ever since." ▫️ ALEXANDRA LETHBRIDGE WATERMELON, FROM THE SERIES "OTHER WAYS OF KNOWING", 2016 ▫️ Chromogenic color print. 50 x 40 cm. Edition of 15. This artwork is sold framed. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. $1,900
